Alvarinho is the Portuguese version of Galician Albariño, a grape shared across the border between Minho and the Rías Baixas. In the Monção e Melgaço sub-region, it produces its most concentrated and aromatic expressions, benefiting from a drier, more continental microclimate than the rest of Minho.
