Burgenland — Austria’s eastern wine region, bordering Lake Neusiedlersee — produces Chardonnays of a more generous and opulent style than the Vienna regions. The warm lake microclimate and loam soils favour full ripeness, yielding rich, round whites, sometimes aged in barrel. The colour is golden to pale amber.
