In the Var, Clairette enters the whites of the Coteaux Varois en Provence and Côtes de Provence appellations, blended with Grenache blanc, Rolle (Vermentino) and Ugni blanc. On the Var’s clays and limestones, it yields floral, round whites, sometimes slightly oxidative if harvested too late.
