Clairette is an authorised variety in the whites of the Southern Rhône — Côtes du Rhône blanc, Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc, Lirac blanc — where it contributes its floral character and rich texture to blends with Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Picpoul. It remains a minority variety in the region.
