Gamay Mâconnais Bourgogne vin rouge tranquille
- Origin
- Saint-Aubin, in Côte de Beaune
In the Mâconnais and southern Burgundy, Gamay is the entry-level Burgundian variety, marketed under the Bourgogne Gamay or Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire AOCs. On the granites and limestones of the Mâconnais, it yields fruity, accessible reds, lighter than the Crus of neighbouring Beaujolais. The colour is clear ruby red.
