Galicia — the green, humid region of north-west Spain — is the birthplace of Godello, particularly in the Valdeorras and Ribeira Sacra appellations. On the granite and slate rocks above the Sil gorges, it produces its most mineral and complex expressions. The colour is pale, luminous gold.
