Grauburgunder — the Austrian and German name for Pinot gris — is produced in Lower Austria, in the terroirs of the Wachau, Kamptal and Kremstal. On the loess and gneiss of the Wachau, it produces dry whites of alpine elegance, less powerful than Alsace, more mineral and fine. The colour is pale to golden.
