Grenache from the southern Rhône — the king variety of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône Villages, often blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre, on rounded pebbles, clay-limestone and russet sands — is the most noble and complex expression of this variety in France.
