Madeleine Royale — a very rare white variety, an ancient variety from Beaujolais and Savoie now almost extinct, present in a few old vineyards of Savoie — is an ampelographic curiosity of exceptional patrimonial value. Very rarely vinified alone, it is sometimes maintained in old vine assemblages.
