Malbec from the left bank of Bordeaux — the Côt of the Médoc and left bank — is today marginal in the great châteaux (Petrus, Pichon), but authorised in blends and still present in some Bordeaux Supérieur wines and vins de pays. It was once far more planted before phylloxera.
