Malbec from San Rafael — a southern sub-region of Mendoza at 700m altitude, at the confluence of the Diamante and Atuel rivers, on sandy, clay and pebble soils — produces Malbecs in a fruitier and lighter style than those from Luján de Cuyo, with more marked acidity thanks to cool nights.
