Brunello di Montalcino — a Sangiovese clone (Brunello) grown exclusively in the commune of Montalcino, in central Tuscany, on the alberese, tuff and sand soils, at altitudes of 120 to 600 metres, with a hot and dry Mediterranean climate — produces the most long-lived wines of Italy.
