Syrah from Catalonia — grown in the Catalan appellations (Penedès, Empordà, Terra Alta, Priorat), on the limestone, black shale and sand soils with a hot Mediterranean climate — produces fruity and warm Syrahs, often blended with Garnacha and Cabernet. Torres and Alvaro Palacios use it in their cuvées.
