Syrah from Roussillon — grown in the Côtes du Roussillon and Roussillon Villages, on the gneiss, schist and red clay soils with the hot and dry tramontane climate — produces powerful and warm Syrahs, often blended with Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. Domaine Gauby and Mas Amiel make beautiful versions.
