Why a subscription instead of a one-time purchase?

Great question! At VINONIA, our goal is continuous learning.
New grape varieties, appellations, and glossary topics are added regularly. New features are also already in development.
All of this needs to be financed. That’s why we’ve opted for an annual subscription — and we’ll do our best to keep you convinced by VINONIA!

Does VINONIA support multiple languages directly in the app?

Yes! Five languages are available: German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
All languages are included in the same version. You can switch between them at any time — perfect if you're visiting winemakers abroad, for example.

Which smartphones and operating systems are supported?

VINONIA was developed for both iOS and Android.

Can VINONIA suggest food pairings for a specific wine?

There is currently no classic food pairing feature.
However, many pairings can be deduced from the core characteristics of grape varieties — such as acidity or tannins — which form the basis of food and wine matching. Aromas also play an important role.

What makes VINONIA different from classic wine apps like Vivino or CellarTracker?

Apples and oranges 😉
VINONIA is, so to speak, a learning app for all wine lovers who want to dive deeper and truly understand wine. There really is no other app quite like it.

Does the app work offline, for example in a wine cellar without internet access?

The app requires a connection to the database in order to retrieve content.
So unfortunately, you won’t be able to work on your wine knowledge in an elevator or on a plane.

How does VINONIA help me prepare for WSET exams?

The VINONIA app is partly based on the theoretical foundations of the WSET.
For example, you’ll find the same comparison scales for evaluating acidity and tannins (on a scale from 1 to 5).
Climate zones are also defined according to WSET standards: cool, moderate, warm, very warm – as well as continental, oceanic, and Mediterranean.

The combination of these elements helps tasters and WSET students to understand the concepts presented in the app in an educational and playful way.

I have feedback or can’t find a grape variety – how can I contact the VINONIA team?

We’d love to hear from you — and thank you in advance!
