Rubired

Origin: United States (created in 1958 by Dr. Harold Olmo at the University of California, crossing of Alicante Ganzin × Tinta Cão)
Growing regions: mainly in California (over 6,000 ha), used for table wines, concentrated juice and colouring of blends

Rubired is a dyeing grape variety producing very coloured, profound, and dense wines, but with a relatively neutral aromatic profile. It provides substance, colour, and a solid structure in blends, but often lacks aromatic finesse.
