Pineau d'Aunis
- Origin
- Ancient grape variety from the Loire Valley, probably originating from the Aunis region (near La Rochelle), mentioned as early as the Middle Ages (12th century).
- Also known as
- Chenin noir, Plant d’Aunis, Breton d’Aunis
The Pineau d’Aunis gives original red and rosé wines, with a clear and bright robe, with a very marked spicy weave. The dominant aromas evoke white pepper, cinnamon and tart red fruits. In the mouth, it is light, fresh, with pronounced acidity, often with firm tannins in youth.
