Generic Xarel·lo — autochthonous Catalan white variety (with Macabeo and Parellada, one of the three components of Cava), grown mainly in the Penedès and Garraf (Catalonia), on the limestone and sandy soils with a Mediterranean climate — produces dry, fresh and fruity whites with a typical herbaceous aromatic.
